If you like impressionism and Claude Monet paintings, you should visit Monet's house, which is 80km to the west of Paris City. It will give you also the opportunity to visit country around Paris and breathe some fresh air !




How to get to Giverny - Monet's house ?


By train : Go to Saint-Lazare station (North West station inside Paris) then take a train to "Vernon". Journey time is 45 minutes and cost is € 24 for a return ticket. There are 3 trains per day going to Vernon. The best time is the 8:15 AM train.
Vernon is a small village very close to Giverny. There, a bus service is linked to the train arrival. Bus return ticket is € 4.

By car : Take the motorway A13. The departure of motorway is in the north west of Paris. At "Bonnieres", take the D201 road to Vernon. Signs for Giverny are easy to see.

Tips for your visit to Giverny

Monet's house is open every days except Mondays, from 9:30 AM to 6 PM, only from April 1st to October 31st.
You can book a tour everywhere in Paris, that includes the journey and guide. But you can also visit it by yourself, the best choice if you really want to enjoy the garden's beauty. Of course, there are some guided visits you can book at the entrance.
Go early, since there are many tourist groups that come from Paris for the day.

What to see ?

Beautiful gardens ; the famous japanese bridge ; reflection of clouds in the water, exactly like in a Monet painting ; flower gardens designed by Monet ; the House ; the Studio and his collection of Japanese woodblocks.
